Support to CARE HIV Self Help Group Development Programme

Working initially with pilot groups to assess experiences to date particularly with a view to initiatives currently in place within HIV programme, the appropriateness of services provided in meeting needs and the challenges encountered in providing quality services. Lessons were drawn and a model developed both for SHG to build the concept of a Model SHG strategy in context of CARE-B HIV Programme. Guidelines were developed, standards and checklist of responsibilities for SHG development processes recommended. Follow up training to support groups in this process is envisaged. (2004)
