DFID Extends the Lesotho Public Financial Management Programme for a Final Six Months
DFID has just agreed a further extension to the Lesotho PFM Programme through to project completion at the end of September 2010. Harewelle International is implementing this Programme with Tribal HELM, who is the consortium leader and is providing a full time staff member Matt Morley, in the role of PFM Programme Manager.
The final six months will allow the technical assistance to complete a number of the elements of the on going implementation of the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF). Although further interventions are still needed, the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) will need to consider how these can be delivered.
The final period will also allow continued support to Treasury, particularly the preparation of the set of annual accounts utilising the newly implemented IFMIS system that has just finished one full year of financial management for the Government of Lesotho.
A number of other elements of the Programme will be completed in the sixth month period and a clear exit strategy will be developed and agreed with MFDP and DFID.
