PMTC (Zambia) wins new contract to support Zambia's largest National Park

PMTC (Zambia) has recently been awarded the contract to develop the General Management Plan for the Kafue National Park (KNP) in Zambia.  Working with a range of stakeholders from the Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA), private sector safari operators and local communities, PMTC will develop a Plan which will inform and guide all aspects of the management of the Park, the largest in Zambia and one of the largest in Africa, for the next 10 years.

This work, funded by the World Bank SEED Programme, is a continuation of the support which PMTC (Zambia) has been providing to KNP over the last two years.  Initially this was to develop a Business Plan for the Park and then to assist ZAWA in attracting new, high value investors and develop innovative models of Private Public Partnerships for co-management of areas of the Park.   These initiatives will bring badly needed additional resources to help protect and develop KNP, which, if it’s surrounding Game Management Areas are included, covers 64,000 km an area of twice the size of Belgium.

PMTC (Zambia) is part of the Harewelle Group. The Group has extensive experience in the areas of Natural Resource Management, Environmental Protection, Protected Areas Management and Game and Wildlife Planning in Southern Africa and elsewhere.
