Chairman and Managing Director visit Bangladesh

John presenting an engraved plaque to Shamima who is leaving shiree Harewelle Chairman, John Woolner and Managing Director, Mike Woolford, had a brief visit to Bangladesh in the first week of June this year for an opportunity for Mike to meet up with Monjur Hossain, Managing Director of PMTC Bangladesh and staff at the Bangladesh Office. This represented Mike’s first trip back to Bangladesh following an absence of 12 years.

John and Mike spent time with Monjur at the PMTC offices to discuss new working practices as well as aspects of business development. Separate meetings were also held with DFID officials and other senior Bangladeshi colleagues.

Mike in discussions with Md. ShahidullahMike also managed to meet with Azim Manji, who is Harewelle’s CEO on the DFID-funded EEP programme (known as shiree www.shiree.org) and a number of his staff.  The visit also allowed Mike to make a presentation to the shiree staff on the Harewelle Group of companies.  A farewell dinner was organised for some of the shiree staff, which enabled John to personally thank the staff on behalf of Harewelle International and present them with an engraved plaque and a parting gift of their choice. It was also a chance for Mr Md Shahidullah, the shiree project director representing the Government of Bangladesh, to say his special thanks.

Although the time was all too short the visit did reacquaint Mike with Bangladesh and Harewelle’s flagship project in the region.
