Richard Gillett (Programme Manager - Papua New Guinea)
Richard joined the company in 1987 and has been a member of Harewelle since 2006 (when PMTC International merged with ULG International Limited). As a principal consultant of the company, he is responsible for undertaking both long and short term consultancy work.
Since early 2006, he has been the Programme Manager of the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Programme based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. This is a long term EU funded project which is improving the health of rural communities through the provision of clean water and improved access to sanitation. The contract for the second Phase of the programme has been recently awarded which will see Richard in Papua New Guinea for a further 3 years aiming to expand on the successes of Phase I.
Richard has been working overseas since 1978 when he started off as a VSO in the agriculture field. This has slowly evolved into Project Management focusing on rural development. The work has included agricultural extension, wildlife management training, fisheries development policies and recently with water and sanitation. He has worked extensively in Africa, South East Asia, Central America and now the Pacific region.
