Bruce Mead (Environment Director & DEW Point Director - UK)
Bruce joined the company in 1993, has been a member of Harewelle since 2006 (when PMTC International merged with ULG International Limited). As a Director of the company, he is responsible for the oversight of selected sectors including environment, climate change and water for a range of donors including DFID, the European Commission and the Asian Development Bank.
Since early 2007, he has been Manager of the Harewelle-led DEW Point Resource Centre for Environment, Climate Change, Water and Sanitation. This initiative, funded by DFID, generates and disseminates knowledge on behalf of DFID staff and their development partners in selected sectors. Bruce manages a team of staff under the initiative, and oversees the web-based information databases to facilitate knowledge sharing in the wider development community. He also co-ordinates the commissioned assignments arising from resource centre (now approaching 100 assignments), covering a wide range of topics in the environment and water sectors.
Bruce has two decades of experience in development interventions world-wide, with a particular focus on countries in Africa. He managed the SADC office for the company (based in Harare from 1993 to 2001) and has been closely involved long and short term assignments in most east and southern African countries as well as in selected south Asian and Pacific nations. Born in Zimbabwe, Bruce has been UK-based since 2001. He is a resource economist by training, with considerable experience in environment and natural resource management, climate change, agriculture, rural development, fisheries, water resources and sanitation.
