Bruce Mead

Bruce joined the company in 1993, has been a member of Harewelle since 2006 (when PMTC International merged with ULG International Limited). As a Director of the company, he is responsible for the oversight of selected sectors including environment, climate change and water for a range of donors including DFID, the European Commission and the Asian Development Bank.

Since early 2007, he has been involved in the Harewelle-led DEW Point Resource Centre for Environment, Climate Change, Water and Sanitation. He was Manager from 2007 to 2009 and is now the Centre Director. This initiative, funded by DFID, provides expertise to DFID staff and their development partners. Bruce provides overall direction for the Centre, which has a team of full-time staff manning the DEW Point helpdesk and managing a framework for technical assignments (now numbering close to 200 individual assignments). It also provides web-based information databases and produces newsletters to facilitate knowledge sharing in the wider development community.

Bruce has two decades of experience in development interventions world-wide including long-term in-country experience in Africa. He currently advises the Technical Services Division of the international NGO WaterAid on strategic planning, and is the Technical Director of a UNOPS / WSSCC initiative providing water and sanitation services in two Indian states. He managed the SADC office for the company (based in Harare from 1993 to 2001) and has been closely involved in long and short term assignments in most east and southern African countries as well as in selected south Asian and Pacific nations.
