John Woolner (Chairman - UK)
In 1992 John Woolner founded PMTC International and is now Chairman of Harewelle, incorporating PMTC International, PMTC (Bangladesh) Limited and ULG International Limited. John has extensive experience of working in Africa and Asia – In Zambia and in Bangladesh in particular having worked and lived in those countries full time for a number of years and since that time in being a regular business visitor to those countries. His understanding of the culture and socio-political context of aid interventions allows him to bring a sympathetic and informed approach to project direction.
Through project management, John’s professional experience includes the whole range of development issues; local government, community development, sustainable livelihoods towards poverty alleviation, small farmers, fisher folk, women in development and gender roles, all aspects of vocational training, facilitating and group development for institutional strengthening. Administration and management includes project proposals, planning, design and evaluation, all forms of reporting, budgeting and financial control.
John has a BA (Hons) in Biological Sciences and Management from the Open University, a National Diploma in Agriculture from Seale Hayne and a Certificate in Education from Birmingham. Added to this are numerous short courses and workshops.
